Awesome new quote from Albert Einstein

"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weakness, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish."

in a newly published letter

Einstein has said a lot of good ones about the futility of religion and the childish belief in god.

"Why do you write me 'God should punish the English'? I have no close connection to either one or the other. I see only with deep regret that God punishes so many of His children for their numerous stupidities, for which only He Himself can be held responsible; in my opinion, only His nonexistence could excuse Him"
-- Albert Einstein, letter to Edgar Meyer, a Swiss colleague, Jan. 1915; from The Expanded Quotable Einstein, p. 201.

"Scientific research is based on the idea that everything that takes place is determined by laws of nature, and therefore this holds for the action of people. For this reason, a research scientist will hardly be inclined to believe that events could be influenced by a prayer, i.e. by a wish addressed to a supernatural Being."
-- A.A. in response to a child who had written him in 1936 and asked if scientists pray; from Albert Einstein, the Human Side, p. 32.

fantastic! It never ceases to amaze me how many idiots must have an imaginary friend by their side because they are such douche bags to everyone else that they have no true friends.
